Browser Extension Privacy Policy

This page is the privacy policy for the JoyProxy browser extension (Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and other Chromium stores). It is provided so extension marketplaces can review how the extension handles data. It is not the website navigation privacy page. The website and account Privacy Policy is at privacy.html.

1. Who we are

JoyProxy (“we”, “us”) provides proxy IP services and related tools. The browser extension helps you apply a JoyProxy proxy to your browser so web traffic can exit through an IP you have purchased or configured.

2. What this policy covers

This policy describes information processed by or through the JoyProxy browser extension. It does not replace the main JoyProxy Privacy Policy, which covers accounts, billing, and the website.

If you sign in to a JoyProxy account from the extension, account data is also processed as described in the main Privacy Policy.

3. Information the extension handles

3.1 Stored on your device

The extension may store, in browser storage on your computer:

• Proxy settings you enter (host, port, protocol, username, password or equivalent credentials)
• On/off state, selected region or product profile, and other preferences
• A session or API token if you choose to sign in to JoyProxy inside the extension

This data stays in your browser unless you sign in or enable the proxy, in which case the items below may be sent to JoyProxy to provide the service.

3.2 Sent to JoyProxy when you use the product

• Authentication: if you sign in, we receive the credentials or token needed to verify your account and load eligible proxy products.
• Proxy routing: when the proxy is enabled, your browser sends web requests through JoyProxy’s proxy network. To operate the proxy we process connection metadata required to deliver the service (for example source authentication, destination host/port, timestamps, bytes transferred, error codes).
• Usage metering: traffic volume and similar counters used for billing and abuse prevention, consistent with a paid proxy product.

We do not use the extension to sell your personal information, to build advertising profiles, or to inject ads.

3.3 What we do not collect via the extension

• We do not sell extension users’ data to data brokers.
• We do not use the extension for third-party advertising or retargeting.
• We do not require the extension to read your email, files, or payment card numbers. Payments for JoyProxy plans are completed on the JoyProxy website, not inside the extension checkout unless we clearly state otherwise in a future version.
• We do not log the full content of pages you visit through the proxy for advertising or resale. Operational logs are limited as described in our main Privacy Policy (generation/usage timestamps and traffic consumption; we do not store the body of your proxied requests for browsing-history products).

4. Permissions

Depending on version and browser, the extension may request permissions such as:

• Proxy / network: to apply or clear browser proxy settings so traffic can use your JoyProxy endpoint.
• Storage: to save settings and sign-in state on the device.
• Host or webRequest-related permissions (if declared in the package): only as needed to route or diagnose proxy connections—not to scrape unrelated site content for our own marketing.

You can review the exact permission list on the store listing and in the extension’s manifest. You can disable the proxy or uninstall the extension at any time.

5. How we use this information

• Provide, maintain, and troubleshoot the proxy connection
• Authenticate your account and enforce plan limits
• Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized use
• Comply with law where we are legally required to do so

We do not use extension data for personalized advertising.

6. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only:

• With infrastructure providers that host JoyProxy services (as processors)
• When required by law or to protect JoyProxy, our users, or the public
• If you explicitly ask us to (for example a support ticket you open)

The browser vendor (Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, etc.) also processes data under their own policies when you install from their store.

7. Retention

Settings stored in the browser remain until you clear site/extension data or uninstall. Account and traffic records on JoyProxy servers follow the retention periods in the website Privacy Policy (for example usage-related logs are kept for a limited operational period).

8. Your choices

• Turn the proxy off in the extension
• Sign out and/or clear extension storage
• Uninstall the extension
• Request access or deletion of account data via [email protected] or in-dashboard support, as described in the main Privacy Policy

9. Children

The extension is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the extension.

10. International processing

JoyProxy operates globally. Information may be processed in countries other than yours, with safeguards described in the main Privacy Policy.

11. Changes

We may update this page. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Material changes that affect the extension will be reflected here (and, where appropriate, in the store listing).
